"The Mist" By Stephen King

Bridgton, Maine experiences a nasty storm one night, leaving the whole town devastated. Homes destroyed, power loss, and a strange fog is what David Drayton wakes up to find. David takes his son into town to get some supplies leaving his wife behind. While shopping at the packed grocery store the towns storm sirens go off. Soon a thick fog rolls in, changing the lives of every citizen in Bridgton, forever. It is quickly discovered that nothing about this mist is normal. People go in but never come out. Screams are heard deep within the mist. People are dying while trying to escape and the store can only stand for so long. What the mist doesn't know is that David will do whatever it takes to protect his son and get back to his wife.

As many of you know, I am a huge critic of Stephen King's work, too descriptive and not enough terror. The Running Man is my favorite book of his and this was a close second. The Mist is a great thriller and would have been given five stars if it weren't for the terrible ending. I don't mind when stories end in a cliff hanger but this, this was just awful. It. Just. Ended. I of course watched the movie immediately after finishing the book. I can't believe I'm saying this but the movie was better! There was actually an ending and it was devastating. Overall a great book with a terrible ending. Four out of five stars.
