"The Girl Next Door" By A.J. Rivers
Emma Griffin is a FBI agent on leave. After being involved with a case that hit too close to home she has decided to take some time off. Moving into a quiet little neighborhood in the tiny town of Sherwood seemed like the best next step. A new neighbor moves into the house right across the street. Her name is Ruby and she seems just as sweet as the rest of the residents in this sleepy old town. When strange things begin after meeting Ruby, Emma can't help but go into cop mode. Her friends, colleagues, and even her boyfriend fear she is going crazy. Seeing things that no one else can, making sense of things that make no sense, and being suspicious of people who appear to be innocent, Emma is quickly losing her credibility. Is Emma going crazy or are her loved ones just blind to the truth?
This book was pretty dang good. I finished it in three days which makes perfect sense because it kept me on my toes! The book has parallel storylines between Emma and the mysterious "Him". The first half of the book was a bit confusing. I couldn't figure out how the two were linked which I'm sure was the point but I didn't like the set up. It wasn't until maybe 3/4 of the way through that "Him" made more sense. Regardless it was still a good story with an interesting ending.
Three out of five stars.
