"Merfolk" By Jeremy Bates

Dr. Martin (Marty) Murdock was the laughing stock of the science community after releasing a Netflix documentary with less than truthful facts. His belief in mermaids being more than mythical creatures has been skeptical of everyone he tries to educate on the subject. In recent events he is given the chance to prove their existence after the discovery of a skull is found in a great white. A skull that is similar to human but definitely not human. Marty is now on a mission to find Merfolk (mermaids) in the area the great white was found. He is about to make the discovery of a lifetime and willing to do anything to get back his reputation as a respected scientist.

Jeremy Bates became one of my favorite authors last year after reading his book "The Catacombs" I became addicted to his books. I have never been disappointed in his work until I read Merfolk. His other books are immediately full of suspense, keeping me up until midnight and unable to put them down. Merfolk took a LONG time to get interesting. It wasn't until probably the last fifty pages that I became hooked. I would still recommend the book because of how it ends but if it's the first Bates book you try, don't judge all his work based off this one.

Three out of five stars.
