"House of Secrets" By Chris Columbus

The Walker children are used to having it all. Their father is a surgeon, providing them with all of the best things life has to offer. All it takes is one surgery to ruin their lives forever. Forced to find a new home the Walker family sets off to find a perfect yet affordable new house. When their realtor shows them the Kristoff house, all bets are off, their parents are in love. What the parents fail to see are the creepy shadows, statues disappearing, and whispering voices filled with threats. Soon after moving in the Walker children are tossed into a world unlike anything they have ever experienced, unless you've read adventures found only in stories. They are threatened by an evil woman, sent on a mission, with their only hope for returning home is to give her what she wants.

I really enjoyed this story. It reminded of The Series of Unfortunate Events, which I LOVED as a child. Who doesn't adore a book with pirates, friendly giants, and an evil witch? A story within a story is truly an adventure! This book was definitely written for young readers but adults can enjoy it too! Two out of five stars.
