Kate Mularkey is a shy, nerdy, eighth grade girl, who prefers a book to socializing. Making friends is definitely not her strong suit. Tully Hart is a strong willed girl. Always ready to party and desperate to fill the void her mother has left in her. After meeting they become best friends. Both living on Firefly Lane they create many memories growing up. After college they drift apart. Tully fulfilling her dream of being a reporter and Kate, being a mom and wife. There are always ups and downs but true friendship, the friendship Kate and Tully have, lasts forever.
I really went out of my comfort zone on this one. I watched the movies years ago and completely forgot the story. I remembered liking the movie so I thought I'd give the book a try. Hannah wrote a beautiful story of true friendship. Firefly Lane tugs at your heart, pulling you into Kate and Tully's relationship. I'm honestly jealous. I've never experienced a friendship like this. The book is broken up into four parts. The 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's. You feel like your growing up with them. Every year, a new experience in life, showing how life changes as we age, but a beautiful friendship that lasts through it all. I've read hundreds of books. Firefly Lane is only the second book to make me cry. I strongly recommend. Four out of five stars.
